I teach beginners to advanced learners, ages from 4 years to (currently) 74 years old, you are never too old to learn! I specialise in classical, jazz, pop, music theory and song writing. 20 years of teaching experience has enabled me to refine my teaching methods, I am a patient and empathetic teacher who has still retained a sense of enthusiasm and excitement. Nothing still surpasses the magic of seeing a student gain happiness and enjoyment from learning the piano!
Learning the piano is not a ‘one size fits all method’, I recognise that each individual learns differently, and lessons are personalised to suit the students needs. My aim is to help the student to achieve their musical aspirations whether studying formally or learning for fun.
For the younger learner I take great care to take a holistic approach and create musical games and activities that are engaging, so that the student learns in a fun and creative way.
I am not only passionate about teaching the piano, but also hope to pass on and inspire a deep love of music, which will hopefully last a lifetime. Many students have furthered their studies at university, leading to a professional career in music.
Lesson Types
I offer individual lessons which can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes in duration. There is also the option to learn with a friend or relative, I am currently teaching siblings and mother and daughter duos, which is a lot of fun!
Piano tuition in East Grinstead & Piano tuition in Lingfield: Home visits are available, I cover Lingfield, East Grinstead and surrounding areas. Travel expenses are included in the fees.
Online lessons are available via Facetime, Zoom and Skype. Since teaching online during lockdown, some students have preferred to continue with online lessons. Online lessons are also a great alternative if a student is unwell but would still like a lesson, or that sometimes parents are time poor and need the convenience of having an online lesson. Online lessons have also worked for students who would like to continue whilst travelling abroad, lessons have taken place in Germany, Poland and Australia!
In addition to providing piano lessons in East Grinstead and piano tuition in Lingfield, we also serve students from: Dormansland, Forest Row, Ashurst Wood, Blindley Heath, Edenbridge, Oxted, Smallfield, Crawley and Horley. There is ample free parking available immediately outside the teaching studio, a covered waiting area and available rest room.
